FLUID SPORTS TECH
Product Design Intern
UX/UI
Brief
I created the UX/UI design for Fluid Sports Tech, an app that helps student athletes access mental health resources quickly and without stigma. Alongside designing the app’s core user experience, I also developed the brand identity, including the logo, visual direction, and supporting design assets. The goal was to build something that felt trustworthy, supportive, and easy to use especially for students who might be hesitant to seek help. I also worked on email designs that matched the brand’s tone and helped drive engagement.
Challenge
After conducting a usability survey with participants from a local college, we found that a majority of users ended their session pretty quickly and did not explore other functions of the application.
Reflection
Reflecting on my time with Fluid Sports Tech, I gained valuable insights into the fast-paced nature of UI/UX design in a startup environment. As my first formal experience with product design, I learned that it goes far beyond just making something visually appealing. I discovered the importance of designing with the user in mind, focusing on functionality, usability, and accessibility. I enjoyed having multiple roles during my internship, as it allowed me to see how my design choices carried more weight in a smaller-scale environment.
